What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins are swollen, dark, and frequently twisted or bulging veins usually found in the legs. These painful and unsightly varicose veins form when the valves in veins weaken and allow the blood they are carrying to pool. This can lead to edema (swelling in the leg), pain and itching, and potentially serious complications including blood clots, leg ulcers, and circulation problems. For more information click here.

How is the Endovenous Laser Therapy performed?
With Endovenous Laser Therapy, the varicose vein is numbed with a local anesthetic and a small incision is made into the vein.
A very thin laser fiber is then inserted into the vein and directed to the desired treatment location. When the laser is activated, it delivers thermal energy to the vein, causing it to close. The laser fiber is then gradually withdrawn until the entire diseased vessel is treated.
The whole procedure lasts one to two hours. After treatment, patients can walk immediately and return to normal activities.
