Brookings Health System will offer healthy lifestyle education from the nationally recognized Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0 childhood obesity program at the Friday, Jan. 2 Brookings Blizzard game against the Austin Bruins.

Children who attend the game can learn about good nutrition and exercise based on the principles of “5-2-1-0”:

5 – fruit and vegetable servings every day

2 – hours or less of recreation screen time every day

1 – hour or more of physical activity every day

0 – sugary drinks, more water and low-fat milk

Booths covering each of the principles will be located in the Larson Ice Center second floor walkway on the east side of the arena. Children who learn about the 5-2-1-0 principles at all four booths will receive a free prize.

In addition, students who attended Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0 education offered by Brookings Health System at the Boys and Girls Club this past fall will receive a free ticket to the game courtesy of the Brookings Blizzard. The students who completed all four education chapters will get to drop the puck at the game.
