For the third consecutive year WomenCertified, Inc., home of the Women’s Choice Award, has named Brookings Health System among America’s best hospitals. This year Brookings Health System was recognized in two categories, America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience and America’s Best Hospitals for Emergency Care.

“As an organization we focus on the patient experience and continuously challenge our team to leave a lasting, positive impression on patients,” said President and CEO Jason Merkley. “Our continued recognition by WomenCertified, Inc. validates our team’s effort to provide high-quality, compassionate, personalized health care to our community.”

Brookings Health ranked 85th in the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience list. Women’s Choice bases ranking on data from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid services and what women say they want from hospitals. Items of highest importance to women this year included recommendation to others, communication with doctors and nurses and explanation of medications. Women’s Choice previously listed Brookings Health System as a top 100 hospital in 2014.

In addition, Women’s Choice listed Brookings Health System as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Emergency Care. Selection is based on the seven core measures for emergency care as rated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services. This includes how quickly patients are seen by a care provider and how much time they spend in the emergency room. 2016 is Brookings Health System’s third consecutive year for this honor.

The Women’s Choice Award is a seal reserved for hospitals across America who partner with WomenCertified in its mission to empower women to make smart health care choices. The distinction is the only award that identifies the country’s best health care institutions based on robust criteria that consider female patient satisfaction, clinical excellence, and what women say they want from a hospital, including quality physician communications, responsiveness of nurses and support staff, cleanliness and trusted referrals from other women.
