  • Winter 2016

I would like to start off by wishing everyone a Happy Holiday! This past quarter was a busy one. We had our annual Trick-or-Treat event at the facility and ended up with over 300 little monsters visiting our residents. In November we had our big Thanksgiving meal and served over 230 people. Our kitchen staff did a fabulous job on the meal and I continue to be amazed with their capabilities. This past month we held our Fifth Annual Resident Christmas Store. We received hundreds of donated gifts from all over the community. This gave our residents the opportunity to go shopping for their loved ones without spending a penny. We had a group of ladies from Sioux Falls that drove up just to wrap gifts and share in the experience. What a magical day it was!

This year has brought about more regulatory changes in health care. We are busy updating policies and educating staff and residents on the new regulations that will be imposed throughout the next three years. Our facility has always embraced change so we are comfortable with the new changes.

As 2016 comes to a close, I’m reminded of how blessed I am to be a part of such a wonderful and ever-changing health system. As the community of Brookings continues to grow, so does Brookings Health System. The new hospital addition/renovation is truly something special.

Happy Holidays!
