Jason Hanssen, AdministratorThe COVID-19 epidemic is continuing to take its toll on the entire world, and nursing facilities around the country have had to shut their doors in order to protect the residents they serve. Life as we knew it literally changed overnight and we were all left scrambling to safeguard those we love so dearly.

It has been a little over three months since we have had to shut our doors to the outside world, and it feels like an eternity. Our team has done an exceptional job adjusting to all of the changes and making sure that they are following all of the guidelines set forth by CMS and the Department of Health. Changes occur frequently and with  little warning, so keeping up to date on all the recommendations is extremely challenging to say the least.

As you all know we did mass testing a couple weeks ago on all residents and staff. We had two positive tests results come back (both were asymptomatic staff members). We immediately retested those individuals and received negative results. At this time, we still have not had any positive resident cases.

The Department of Health has put together a three phased approach that will help guide facilities through the reopen process. We are currently in Phase 1, with Phase 3 allowing inside visitation. I do know that everyone is anxious to see their loved ones, so we have set up court yard visits for the time being. There is a sign up genius to sign up for dates and times. Please contact the Case Manager if you need the link to the sign up genius.

Our Activities Department is doing an outstanding job keeping the residents’ days filled with fun and laughter. They have had to get creative, but the residents are still engaged and having fun considering the conditions.

As always, I want to thank all of you for your continued support. These are hard times, but together we will get through this. Continue to send us your thoughts and prayers.

God bless,

Jason Hanssen, LNHA
