Brookings Health System to Celebrate 400th Blood Donation

Brookings Health System, through its partnership with the Sioux Falls Regional Bloodmobile and Community Blood Bank, will receive its 4000thblood donation on Jan. 10. To mark the occasion, cupcakes will be served to donors during donation times, 7:30 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m., and door prizes will be given.

Brookings Health System has partnered with the Community Blood Bank since 1992 and averages 50 donations at each blood drive. The Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood products to hospitals and healthcare organizations in our region. Blood donations benefit Brookings and surrounding communities.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form), weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health. Donors should eat and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating blood and must bring a valid ID with them at the time of donation.
