For the second consecutive year, Brookings Health System has donated $5000 to Brookings Volunteer Service Bank.

Volunteer Service Bank matches volunteers with people and projects needing help within Brookings County. The organization acts as a volunteer clearing house for exchanging services between community members.

“Supporting Volunteer Service Bank is a great way for Brookings Health System to give back to our community and directly impact the lives of many of the friends and
neighbors we have the privilege to serve,” said CEO and President Jason Merkley.

One of Volunteer Service Bank’s largest projects involves providing drivers for patient transportation. Nearly 70 escort and transport drivers help area patients in need of specialized treatments, such as radiation and chemotherapy, reach their treatment destination both inside and outside of the Brookings region.

The non-profit organization, which was organized in 1992 by the Brookings Coalition on Aging, is locally funded and commits to making a difference in the lives of the elderly, disabled, youth, and disadvantaged in Brookings County.
