Brookings Health System Educational Scholarship Awarded

Annual Scholarship Recognizes a Student with Intentions to Pursue Career in Health Care

Brookings High School senior Allison Siver’s ultimate goal is to give back to the community in a variety of ways, including pursuing a career in the health care industry. Brookings Health System chose Siver as this year’s recipient of Brookings Health System’s Educational Scholarship, allowing her to continue working toward her long-term goal.  

The $1000 scholarship intends to encourage and recognize students attending a post-secondary education institution with an interest in a career in health care. In the fall, Siver will attend South Dakota State University and hopes to pursue a career in nursing.

Siver participates in numerous activities including the National Honor Society and the School Leadership Team at Brookings High School. She also serves as a leader of her church youth group and section leader in the school band. Siver gave back to the community through various volunteer opportunities during her senior year, including a blood drive and raking leaves in the community.

Brookings Health System’s Educational Scholarship provides financial assistance to a senior who best meets the criteria of the program. Brookings Health System selects the recipient based on a number of criteria including the location of their chosen school, the career area the student is interested in pursuing, the student’s extracurricular activities both in school and in the community and their outside employment. Recipients are also assessed based on their GPA, financial need and personal essay.
