Brookings Health System Foundation Adds Two New Board Members

Brookings Health System Foundation’s board of directors welcomed Karin Emery and Amber Hemmestad as their newest members at the Jan. 14 meeting. Each were elected for a two-year term through December 2022.

Emery serves as the Assistant Dean for the College of Nursing at South Dakota State University. Hemmestad co-founded Team Isaac, a local organization providing resources to newborn families and increasing awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Elected officers in 2021 include: Jim Winterboer as Chairperson, Tom Fishback as Vice Chair and Tara Mills serving as Secretary/Treasurer.

Winterboer will complete his final term this coming December. Winterboer will have served the organization for the maximum four terms.

“It has been rewarding to see the accomplishments of the Foundation and the generosity of our community through the years,” says Winterboer. “This past year has highlighted the value of having access to local health care within our community and the importance of supporting these efforts.”
