Brookings Health System Foundation will hold the fourth annual Aiming to Inspire Health sporting clays fundraiser on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Medary Creek Hunt Club, rural Aurora, S.D., presented by First Bank & Trust.

Proceeds from the 2013 event will help fund needed equipment for the new outreach specialty clinic at Brookings Health System’s hospital. The clinic will occupy remodeled space from the former nursing home, Brookview Manor.

“Service to the community is the key reason for establishing the outreach clinic,” Brookings Health System CEO Jason Merkley explained. “Our goal is to bring in physicians and surgeons who would not otherwise locate in Brookings. Hosting out-of-town specialists at the hospital provides access to needed services here at home rather than requiring patients to travel elsewhere for health care.”

According to Foundation Development Officer Barb Anderson, Aiming to Inspire Health proceeds will help purchase office furniture and equipment for the new facility scheduled for completion fall 2013. The clinic will have a separate entrance, three exam rooms, a procedure room and office space for the visiting doctors.

Families, businesses, youths and adults are encouraged to participate at the event. Registration is limited to 100 shooters and includes a meal and ammunition. All paid registrations received by July 27 are eligible to win an early bird prize valued at $200.

Shooters will be grouped in teams of four at the event. Five hundred dollars in prizes will be awarded to the top shooting team, top youth individual, and top adult individual shooter.

Other event sponsors to date include Avera Medical Group Brookings, Larson Manufacturing, Mansheim State Farm, Helsper & Mahlke, P.C., Clark Drew Construction, Sodexo Food Services, Horty Elving Architects, Sanford Health Brookings Clinic, HyVee, Twin City Fan, Rude’s Home Furnishings, Cubby’s Sports Bar & Grill, Banner Associates, Eide Bailly, Pheasant Restaurant, The Exchange, Bankstar Financial, Outlaw Graphics, Kreiser’s Inc. and Earthbend.
