Proceeds to Fund Therapy Equipment for New Skilled Nursing Facility

Brookings Health System Foundation will hold the third annual Aiming to Inspire Health sporting clays fundraiser on Aug. 23, 4-7:30 p.m., at Medary Creek Hunt Club, rural Aurora, S.D., presented by First Bank & Trust.

Proceeds from the 2012 event will help fund needed equipment for the new skilled nursing facility’s therapy gym.

“More and more people who experience a short-term illness or injury, like a stroke or joint replacement, rehabilitate close to home at a skilled nursing facility,” said Long-Term Care Administrator Jason Hanssen. “Our new skilled nursing facility we are currently building will have a neighborhood dedicated just for those residents. Therapy will be an important component of their recovery. The gym equipment purchased with the Aiming to Inspire Health proceeds will help our family and friends return home to live.”

Event registration is limited to 100 shooters so families, youth and adults are encouraged to register by July 20. The registration fee includes a meal and ammunition. Shooters will be grouped in teams of four at the event. Shooting prizes will be awarded for the top shooting team, top youth shooter, and top adult individual shooter.

In addition, a pair of VIP 49cc gas scooters from My Cool Hot Scooter of Volga, S.D., will be raffled at the event. Tickets cost $20 each or five tickets for $75; ticket holders need not be present to win.

Other event sponsors include Avera Medical Group Brookings, Glover & Helsper, P.C., Clark Drew Construction, Sodexo, Kreisers Inc. and Banner Engineering, Architecture and Surveying.

Brookings Health System Foundation’s mission is to cultivate philanthropic gifts to support charity health care for those less fortunate; health and wellness education; facility, equipment, and technology upgrades; and other needs as they arise at Brookings Health System.
