Brookings Health System was recently named one of iVantage Health Analytics’, “Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals” and named to the “100 Great Community Hospitals” list by Becker’s Hospital Review.

“Brookings Health System is honored to be named as a top 100 hospital by both iVantage Health Analytics and Becker’s Hospital Review,” said President and CEO Jason Merkley. “Our team makes the difference at Brookings Health System. Staff members from across our system collaborate to provide the high-quality, compassionate, personalized health care our community has come to expect from us.”

Brookings Health System scored in the top 100 of rural and community hospitals on iVantage’s Hospital Strength INDEX®, placing the health system in the top four percent of all rural hospitals in the United States.

The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive rating of rural and critical access hospitals. The results recognize that the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals play a key role in providing a safety net to communities across America, measuring them across more than 70 different performance metrics, including quality, outcomes, patient perspective, affordability, population risk and efficiency.

In addition, the Becker's Hospital Review editorial team recently selected hospitals from across the country for inclusion on its "100 Great Community Hospitals" list based on rankings and awards from other organizations, including iVantage Health Analytics. Brookings Health System was the only South Dakota organization to receive the honor in 2016.

Becker's has published a version of the list annually since 2011. For the purposes of this list, Becker's defines a "community hospital" as one with fewer than 550 beds that have minimal teaching programs.
