“Building Blocks to Baby” Offers Would-Be Parents Education on Starting a Family

  • November 13, 2017

Brookings Health System and Avera Medical Group will hold “Building Blocks to Baby,” an educational event for would-be parents who are considering having a child, on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Brookings Hospital’s new West Entrance Grand Lobby, located right off of Twenty-Second Avenue.

“Many times couples who are planning or thinking about starting a family have a lot of questions, including what a baby will cost, what do we need to do to have a healthy pregnancy, and what labor and delivery is like,” said Obstetrics Director Mary Schwaegerl. “This event will help answer those questions and give people a chance to talk one-on-one with delivering physicians, OB nurses, volunteer doulas, lactation consultants, and other local providers in Brookings to help them decide if a baby is in their future.”

In addition to care providers, attendees will also have the chance to visit with family resource network about child care options, tour the new Avera Medical Group Specialty Care clinic located inside Brookings Health System’s Medical Plaza and tour the new OB unit at Brookings Hospital.

Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m., with informational booths open from 6:45 to 8 p.m. The event is free of charge. Pre-registration is requested by logging on to www.brookingshealth.org/BuildingBlocks.
