Community Flu Clinics Planned in Volga & Arlington

  • October 10, 2019

Brookings Health System will hold flu shot clinics in Volga and Arlington to help protect local patients from the influenza virus.

Volga Medical Clinic will offer flu vaccines from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the clinic. Arlington Medical Center will immunize patients from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at their clinic location.

The CDC recommends everyone who is at least six months of age receive an annual influenza vaccination. It is especially recommended for individuals who have a high risk of developing serious complications, like pneumonia, if they become sick with the flu. This includes pregnant women, people age 65 and older and people with certain medical conditions like asthma, diabetes, or chronic lung disease.

Please note, due to a nationwide shortage, high-dose influenza vaccines will not be available. Brookings Health System will have the quadrivalent influenza vaccine, which covers four strains of the influenza virus, available at both clinics.

Vaccinations can be billed to health insurance providers; please bring along insurance information. Medicare eligible patients have no out-of-pocket costs. Charge for those wishing to pay out-of-pocket is $30. Walk-ins are welcomed; shots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For more information, please call Volga Medical Clinic at (605) 627-5701 or Arlington Medical Center at (605) 983-3283.
