Debra Thomas Hired as New Laboratory Manager for Brookings Health System

Brookings Health System announces Debra Thomas of Aurora, S.D., has been hired as the organization's new laboratory manager.

Thomas, a Roscoe, S.D., native, is a certified medical technologist and has nine years of laboratory experience. She worked previously at the SDSU veterinary diagnostic lab. Thomas holds a bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science and a master's degree in biological sciences, both from SDSU.

Thomas belongs to the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists (ASCLS). This past spring, she was honored with Omicron Sigma award from ASCLS, listing her on the ASCLS president's honor roll for accomplishment, talent and effort.

Brookings Health System's newly remodeled, on-campus laboratory performs a wide range of medical tests for inpatients, outpatients, and extended care facility patients. In addition, the laboratory staff participates in health screenings and fairs in the community and is able to provide health screenings to local businesses.
