DONA Birth Doula Workshop Scheduled at Brookings Health System

As a part of the ongoing initiative to improve labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care, Brookings Health System will host the popular DONA Birth Doula workshop on Sept. 21- 22 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

The workshop will be held in hospital conference rooms A and B and will provide hands-on education for providing physical and emotional support to birthing women and their families. It is one step in meeting the requirements for becoming a volunteer doula at Brookings Health System.

The workshop costs $350, with the fee waived if applying to become a volunteer doula at Brookings Health System. It is recommended for doulas, nurses, lactation counselors, childbirth educators and other health care professionals.

The workshop will be lead by Marilyn Hildreth of JM Birth Consultants, a registered nurse, chair of the CIMS mother friendly nurse recognition program, and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
