  • August 28, 2017

Brookings Health System’s free six-week educational series, Understanding Grief, will begin on Monday, Sept. 11. The class series is led by Social Worker Denise Larson, MSW, CSW.

Classes will be held on Mondays at Brookings Health System in Conference Room D; attendees are encouraged to enter on the north side of the hospital by the cafeteria. There will be two class sessions and participants may attend either one. The first session will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and the second session will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The content will be the same for both the afternoon and evening sessions.

The classes are designed to help those who have lost a loved one learn about the process of grief and how to navigate it. Topics include the symptoms and process of grief, coping strategies, caring for one’s self, and the continuing bond that occurs. Discussions are confidential and carried out in an atmosphere of understanding and support.

The free class series is open to everyone. To register, please visit www.brookingshealth.org/grief or call (605) 696-8089.
