Brookings Health System Foundation and Medary Acres Greenhouse have teamed together for the second year to hold a Flower Fundraiser benefiting the mission of local health care.

Throughout the month of April individuals may pre-order a hanging flower basket ($25), deluxe patio pot ($50) or special flower tin ($15). Participants will receive a confirmation receipt with details on how to pick up their order from Medary Acres through the month of May. Medary Acres will provide a variety of flowers and colors for participants to choose from.

“Last year the community helped to make our inaugural Flower Fundraiser for Brookings Health System a success,” said Foundation Director Sara Schneider. “Flowers are a great way to recognize Mother’s Day, Memorial Day or spread some cheer this spring while supporting local healthcare in our community.”

Flower sales not only help local health programs, but also can give participants or recipients mental health benefits. Research from Rutgers University found that flowers improve people’s overall emotional health and well-being. Receiving flowers has an immediate impact on happiness. Flowers also help reduce feelings of depression and anxiety and lead to increased contact with family and friends.

A portion of the proceeds from all Flower Fundraiser sales will go toward Brookings Health System Foundation. Orders are closed at this time.

For over 11 years Brookings Health System Foundation has supported Brookings Health System through facility, equipment and technology upgrades; health and wellness education for our community and employees; and assistance for patients and their families.
