Meeting to focus on needs for diabetic resources in community

The community is invited to attend a free Diabetes Awareness Meeting on Monday, May 15 at 7 p.m. in Brookings Hospital’s conference room A. The session is co-sponsored by Brookings Noon Lions Club and Brookings Health System.

The session will be led by Diabetic Nurse Educator Bev Cotton, RN. Attendees will be asked their interest level of establishing and participating in regularly scheduled Diabetic Awareness Programs or other resources in the future.

“Having diabetes can often be a financial burden,” said Cotton. “Free information sessions like this can help those who can’t afford ongoing diabetic education to manage their condition and health. Both the Lions Club and Brookings Health System are committed to continuing these sessions if the diabetes community feels they are worthwhile.”

Diabetics, pre-diabetics and family members are encouraged to attend and voice their resource need. During construction, attendees are asked to use the north driveway off 22nd Avenue, enter the cafeteria door, and go through the cafeteria to conference room A.
