Arlington Medical Clinic will hold a free melanoma skin cancer screening for the public on Wednesday, May 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the clinic in Arlington.

“Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer, with almost 120,000 new cases diagnosed in the U.S. each year,” says CNP Tonya Froehlich who will perform the free screening. “Melanomas often resemble moles, and people should have their health care provider examine them. The good news is when melanoma is recognized and treated early, it is almost always curable.”

Froehlich will screen attendees using a DermaScan machine which uses a black light to magnify images. It highlights the harmful effects of overexposure from the sun’s UV rays.

In addition to the screening, attendees will be given educational information on skin cancer prevention, a melanoma detection bookmarker and a travel size bottle of sunscreen.

All community members are welcome to attend. For more information, contact Arlington Medical Center at (605) 983-3283.
