Those looking to diminish facial lines and rejuvenate their skin do not have to go far to get the results they want. Certified Nurse Practitioner Tonya Froehlich recently became certified to perform dermal fillers, which will be offered through Näva Medical Spa in Brookings.

Näva will offer a variety of dermal fillers, including Juvaderm Ultra and Ultra Plus for lip definition, vertical lip lines, oral commissures, Crow’s feet, Marionette lines and nasolabial folds. For fillers done on cheeks, Froehlich will use Voluma.

Dermal fillers are used to reduce and/or remove creases as well as increase volume in areas of deficit. Facial skin is attached to underlying muscles, which contract causing the skin to bend and wrinkles to form. Causes for lines in facial skin include smoking, gravitational pull and sun exposure, which is the most significant cause of damage. Smoking causes the blood vessels to constrict which dries out the skin and impacts the color of skin. Gravitational pull occurs when tissues lose the ability to resist stretching.

Froehlich is available every Thursday at the Outreach Specialty Clinic, located on the far-east side of the hospital. For more information or to make an appointment for a dermal filler or any of the other services Näva Medical Spa has to offer, please call (605) 695-7394.
