Heather VanMeveren Selected as New Chief Financial Officer for Brookings Health System

Brookings native Heather VanMeveren was recently selected by Brookings Health System as the organization’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

As CFO, VanMeveren is responsible for the development and maintenance of accurate financial information for the general ledger and financial statements. She is also responsible for establishing, updating and maintaining financial policies, procedures, and records necessary to meet the goals of Brookings Health System.

“I am excited about returning to Brookings and establishing a new connection with the community,” said VanMeveren. “This is a transformational time in the health care industry and I look forward to assisting Brookings Health System to successfully navigate the changes to come.”  

For the past year, VanMeveren has served as a certified public accountant (CPA) at Nelson & Nelson CPAs, LLP in Sioux Falls. Prior to that, she was the director of corporate accounting at Sanford Health and spent one year at Sanford USD Medical Center as a financial analyst. She also served as CFO for Bethany Lutheran Home for the Aged and has taught courses in accounting and management.

VanMeveren holds a bachelor’s in accounting from Huron University and a master’s of business administration from Colorado Technical University.
