Jerstad Promoted to Emergency Department Medical Director

Brookings Health System recently promoted Dr. John Jerstad, M.D., to Emergency Department (ED) Medical Director at Brookings Hospital. As the ED Medical Director, he provides guidance, leadership, oversight and quality assurance in the emergency room and to the ambulance service.
Dr. Jerstad began working at Brookings Health System in 2010. Prior to joining Brookings Health, he worked at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls and Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, serving both facilities as ED Medical Director.
A Sioux Falls native, Dr. Jerstad received his medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
