Nephrology Outreach Now Available at Brookings Health System

Nephrologist Arvin Santos, MD, FASN, FACP of Avera Nephrology has begun seeing patients at Brookings Health System’s specialty outreach clinic. Starting this week, he will see patients the second Friday and fourth Wednesday of each month at the clinic.

Dr. Santos specializes in in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the kidneys. He is available to diagnose and treat all types of acute and chronic kidney disease, complex or resistant hypertension, fluid and electrolyte disorders, edema states and kidney disease. He also provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with diabetic kidney disease and kidney/pancreas transplants.

Dr. Santos attended the De La Salle University College of Medicine in the Philippines and performed his residency in internal medicine at Caritas Carnas Hospital/Tufts University, Boston, Mass. He completed his fellowship in nephrology at Fletcher Allen Healthcare/University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt.

In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Santos is the medical director of the hemodialysis unit housed at Brookings Health System and is a clinical assistant professor at the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. He holds board certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine – Nephrology. He also is a certified specialist in clinical hypertension from the American Society of Hypertension and is certified in neurocritical care from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
