New President of the South Dakota Academy of Family Physicians

Dr. Andrew Ellsworth 

Brookings family physician, Andrew Ellsworth, was elected by his peers and recently  installed to serve as President of the South Dakota Academy of Family Physicians, a group of more than 320 family physicians from the state. He has served on the Board of Directors for 4 years, three of those as Vice President and he most recently held the position of President-Elect. The office of President is a one-year term. 

Dr. Ellsworth graduated from Augustana College, attended medical school at the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota, and completed residency at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho.  He currently practices in Brookings at the Brookings Health System and Avera Medical Group Brookings.  He and his wife, Laura, along with their children, Eli and Lydia, live in Brookings. 

“Family physicians care for the people in their communities throughout the spectrum of life. We offer comprehensive care, focus on the entire person, and specialize in preventative medicine, helping patients stay healthy,” Ellsworth said.
