November Diabetes Awareness Program to Focus on Diabetic Eye Diseases

  • November 14, 2017

The community is invited to attend a free Diabetes Awareness Meeting on Monday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in Brookings Hospital’s conference room A. The session is co-sponsored by Brookings Noon Lions Club and Brookings Health System.

The program will focus on diabetic eye disease awareness. Ophthalmologist Dr. Timothy Minton from Yorkshire Eye Clinic will discuss how people with diabetes are more likely to develop blinding eye diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and cataracts. He will also discuss proactive steps individuals with diabetes can take to protect their vision.

Diabetics, pre-diabetics and family members are encouraged to attend. For more information, please contact Diabetic Education Coordinator Bev Cotton at bcotton@brookingshealth.org or Lions members Rich Howard at jrhoward@brookings.net and Lance Howard at lwhowar@gmail.com.
