Oak Lane & Birch Way

  • Summer 2020

First off, everyone misses seeing their family and friends and of course going on the outings, but there is a level of comfort of living and being here on Oak/Birch. The routine of day to day life and participating in simple things like conversations, reading, music, phone calls, window visits and exercise all help make people feel better. We have enjoyed sitting in the sun on the patio, bible study, baking/making snacks, drinking a beer or glass of wine, shooting some hoops or batting a balloon volleyball style and of course eating a variety of food. Those who have had the chance to ride the bike have enjoyed it and are looking forward to more. Everyone is anxiously waiting for the good news of being able to see some family once again.

We have five chapters left in our book Of Moose and Men. We have read the chapter Safecrackers where Torry’s friend, Rob, was able to open a safe here in Brookings, SD at the Ram Pub. The safe had not been opened in 27 years so people were wondering what was in it, which was a bit disappointing as there was no cash, jewelry, love or blackmail notes or anything of interest. There was only a teller receipt and a small piece of carpet. It was a very exciting chapter to read.

Why did the tree go to the dentist?
To get a root canal!
