Occupational Therapist Jamie Halvorson Joins Rehab Team at Brookings Health System

Occupational Therapist Jamie Halvorson recently joined the rehabilitation team at Brookings Health System.

Halvorson attended the University of South Dakota and holds a master’s degree in occupational therapy. She will graduate with a doctorates of occupational therapy this December.

Halvorson has conducted research on helping the elderly age in their home. She also is certified in LSVT BIG therapy, a research-based exercise approach that empowers people with Parkinson’s disease to move better. In addition, she has training in working with dementia patients and preventing falls among older adults. She will also work with children, helping them develop fine motor and sensory skills.

As an occupational therapist at Brookings Health System, Halvorson will assist patients to participate in everyday activities by redeveloping motor skills or by modifying patients’ environments to better support their occupational needs.
