Popular Understanding Grief Education Classes Start in October

  • September 16, 2014

Brookings Health System will once again hold its popular six-week educational series, Understanding Grief, led by Social Worker Mavis Gehant.

Classes will be held on Thursdays at Brookings Health System’s hospital beginning on Oct. 2. There will be two separate classes. One class will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and the other class will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Participants may attend either class.

The classes are designed to help those who have lost a loved one learn about the process of grief and how to navigate it. Topics include symptoms, the process of grief, coping strategies, caring for one’s self, and the continuing bond that occurs. Discussions are confidential and carried out in an atmosphere of understanding and support.

The free class series is open to everyone. To register, please visit www.brookingshealth.org or call (605) 696-7700.
