April 12 Early Bird Registration Deadline for a $25 Discount

To further develop the volunteer doula program for parents delivering their baby at New Beginnings Birth Center, Brookings Health System will again host the popular DONA Birth Doula workshop on April 27 and 28.

Class instruction will be held in Brookings Hospital conference room A from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The workshop provides hands-on education for providing physical and emotional support to birthing women and their families. It is one step in meeting the requirements for becoming a volunteer doula at Brookings Health System.

The workshop is recommended for doulas, nurses, nursing students, lactation counselors, childbirth educators and other health care professionals. It will be led by Marilyn Hildreth of JM Birth Consultants, a registered nurse and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

Class fees are $375 and include workshop materials. Attendees may save $25 and pay $350 by submitting early-bird registration by April 12. People interested in this workshop may register by calling Hildreth at (605) 691-5808 or e-mailing marilyn@jmbirthconsultants.com.

Questions may be directed to Brookings Health System’s OB Director Mary Schwaegerl at (605) 696-8811 or mschwaegerl@brookingshealth.org. More information on Brookings Health System’s volunteer doula program may be found at www.brookingshealth.org/doula.
