Registration Now Open for Super Hero 5K Fun Run & Walk

Event to Include 1-Mile Kids’ Race & Family Health Fair

SuperHero 5K logoBrookings Health System and Brookings Hy-Vee will host the third annual Super Hero 5K Fun Run and Walk on Saturday, Sept. 9. The race will start and end at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex (S-JAC) on the SDSU campus.

The event will include a kids’ 1-mile race at 8:30 a.m. with the main race starting at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite super hero; prizes will be given for the best costumes. Participants who register by Aug. 26 will receive a race t-shirt; participating children will receive a race medal, courtesy of race sponsor First Bank and Trust.

In addition to the races, the event will include a family-oriented health fair with informational booths on wellness activities, safety, and nutrition. Fun activities and games for all ages will also be available.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Kelly McGeough Foundation which helps families in Brookings County who have been stricken with catastrophic medical expenses for a child under age 18.

Cost is $15 for adults and $7 for the kids’ 1-mile run. Race packets may be picked up 45 minutes before the kids’ 1-mile start; registration closes at 8 a.m. the day of the race. Participants may register online at www.brookingshealth.org/SuperHero.
