As a part of the ongoing initiative to improve labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care, Brookings Health System will hold the second of three focus groups discussing the birth experience on Thursday, August 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Brookings Hospital conference rooms A and B.

The focus group will be lead by Marilyn Hildreth of JM Consultants, a registered nurse and the chair of the CIMS mother friendly nurse recognition program. All area residents are encouraged to attend to voice their wants and needs for a birthing facility.

"We want the community's feedback on how we can improve the childbirth experience for our patients," said Chief Nursing Officer Tammy Hillestad. "We received some great ideas from our first focus group that we hope to implement to give our expectant moms and dads the best care possible."

Discussion will focus on what South Dakota parents want for their birth experience and how Brookings Health System can meet those needs.

For community members unable to attend, a future birth experience focus group session is scheduled for October 13, 7:00 p.m. in conference rooms A and B.

Brookings Health System provides full obstetrics services to expectant parents and enables area residents to deliver their baby close to home.
