Director of Surgical Services Terri Stauffacher, RN

Terri Stauffacher, RN, was recently promoted to director of surgical services at Brookings Health System. She served as interim director over the summer upon the retirement of Candace Johnson, RN.

In the surgical services director role, Stauffacher is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective surgical care and oversees perioperative staff in the outpatient surgery unit, preoperative unit, operating room, post-anesthesia care unit and sterile processing department.

Stauffacher is a Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) with over 25 years of nursing experience. She earned her nursing degree from South Dakota State University. During her career at Brookings Health System, Stauffacher has spent 15 years as a circulating nurse in the operating room, providing direct patient care, onboarding new nurses and serving as the da Vinci surgical robot coordinator. Her leadership experience also includes eight years as a nursing supervisor for Brookings Health.

In the community, Stauffacher has been very involved with the Brookings School District. She served on the parent-teacher associations for Hillcrest Elementary, Mickelson Middle School, and Brookings High School.
