Understanding Grief Classes Begin Mar. 11

Brookings Health System’s free six-week educational series, Understanding Grief, will begin on Monday, Mar. 11. The class series is led by Social Worker Denise Larson, MSW, CSW.

Classes will be held on Mondays at Brookings Health System in Conference Room D. There will be two class sessions and participants may attend either one. Session one will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and session two will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The content will be the same for both the afternoon and evening sessions.

The classes are designed to help those who have lost a loved one learn about the process of grief and how to navigate it. Topics include the symptoms and process of grief, coping strategies, caring for one’s self, and the continuing bond that occurs. Discussions are confidential and carried out in an atmosphere of understanding and support.
