Weber Earns Sportsmetrics Knee Injury Prevention Certification

Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer Gavin Weber, rehab director at Brookings Health System, recently became certified to provide the Sportsmetrics™ Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) knee injury prevention program.

The Sportsmetrics program reduces serious knee injury risks and enhances athletic performance. To earn his certification, Weber completed the Sportsmetrics educational course and passed both the practical and written exams. Weber’s certification allows Brookings Health System to offer Sportsmetrics to patients and athletes as a part of its rehabilitative services.

Sportsmetrics is the first ACL injury prevention program scientifically proven to help young athletes avoid non-contact ACL injuries and improve performance. The program employs a number of drills to encourage proper form for jumping and landing during athletic participation. Jumping drills teach an athlete to preposition the entire body safely when jumping or landing.

Sportsmetrics training is most effective with soccer and basketball athletes, but the program can help properly train any athlete. The program works for both female and male athletes and is most effective with athletes participating in high school and college sports.
