Where are the Hospitalizations?

On Aug. 31 Brookings County entered a new classification: substantial spread for COVID-19, meaning the county has greater than 100 cases per 100,000 people. To date, the county has had 538 positive cases and currently has 140 active cases. But, according to the publically reported data, what hasn’t increased much is the number of hospitalizations among county residents.

Stauffacher Promoted to Director of Surgical Services

Terri Stauffacher, RN, was recently promoted to director of surgical services at Brookings Health System. She served as interim director over the summer upon the retirement of Candace Johnson, RN.

Brookings Health System scored 98 of 100 points on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) most recent survey of Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Care (mPINC). The score places Brookings Health in the top 2% of the 2,045 hospitals surveyed nationwide.

Olson Recognized as Pharmacy Technician of the Year

Brookings Health to Offer Safe@Home Course to Prepare Kids to Stay Home Alone

Brookings Health System will offer Safe@Home by SafeSitter®, a program designed for students in grades 4 to 6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. The class will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. outside the Ambulance Station and Education Center.
