A 4WD Type I, three Type III units as well as one Type III Special Operations Unit. We provide emergency 911 Advanced Life Support (ALS) services for the City of Brookings, much of the county of Brookings, and the communities of Aurora, Bruce, Bushnell, Sinai, and Volga. Brookings Ambulance also assists area ambulance services from Arlington, Clear Lake, Elkton, Estelline, White, and Lake Preston when requested.

Brookings Ambulance Service started operations in 1974 and over the years, the role of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has expanded. Our ambulance staff works with the local physicians in providing patients with progressive procedures.

Ambulance services provided include:

  • Basic and advanced life support
  • Local and long-distance transport
  • Emergency and non-emergency transfers
  • ALS assistance to other ambulances with emergency calls
  • Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) instruction
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instruction

Brookings EMS also provides emergency medical coverage to several events in the Brookings area. Our staff can be seen at community events such as the Brookings Summer Arts Festival, events at the Dacotah Bank Center, and sporting activities.

Our staff is actively involved in educating the public about emergencies. Our paramedics and EMTs use their years of knowledge to help educate local first responders and other EMTs, as well as children attending Safety Town, local Health Fairs, and other community events.
