Diabetes Education
Millions of people lead healthy lives while managing diabetes. Brookings Health System offers diabetic education to help you understand diabetes, to help you adjust your lifestyle and to give you the tools you need to control your diabetes.
If you have diabetes, you will personally manage most of your care. Although you may feel fine, diabetes can slowly damage your body. This makes education very important. Studies show people who have education on how to manage their diabetes experience better outcomes. You should have education when diagnosed, when problems arise, and every year thereafter.
Our health care team includes our diabetic educator, who is a registered nurse, and our registered dietitian who work together to counsel patients on how to incorporate healthy eating, physical activity and medication management into their lives.
