chair-care.jpgOutpatient treatment, also referred to as chair care, allows people who need procedures such as IV infusions, injections or dressing changes to receive them close to home rather than needing to travel to another location to receive care.

Outpatient treatment is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing patients to schedule their treatments when it is convenient for them.

The outpatient treatment area is a dedicated space where each patient has their own recliner and a TV to help pass the time while they receive treatment.

What to Expect During Your Visit

You will register with our Emergency Department receptionist. Depending on the treatment you need to receive, you may need to have lab work done first. We will then send lab results to your physician so he or she can write the order for the correct medication dose. Once we have the order back from your physician, our care team will prepare your medication and administer it.

If you do not need lab work performed, our care team will prepare your medication upon your arrival and administer it.

Referral is required to set up outpatient treatment. Ask your physician to help you schedule your outpatient treatment at Brookings Health System.
