Botox Cosmetic

Botox cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of frown lines.

How does Botox work?

As we age, our frown muscles become stronger, making wrinkles like moderate to severe crow's feet lines around the eyes and glabellar lines between the eyebrows in adults more apparent.

Botox works by blocking the signal from the nerves to the muscles that are responsible for those annoying frown lines. By relaxing these muscle contractions, the wrinkles soften and restore your smooth facial appearance. Botox is also beneficial in counteracting the muscles that cause frowning and in turn prevents that tired or sad appearance.

How is Botox different from dermal fillers?

Botox is used primarily for wrinkles while dermal fillers are used to add volume to the face.

Botox treatments last four to six months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and will need treatment again. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe over time because the muscles are being trained to relax.

Botox reaches its full effect in three to seven days. As such, if you’re planning on treatment for a special event, such as a wedding, class reunion, or vacation, you’ll want to book your appointment in advance.
