Brookings Health System’s Tim Watson, imaging department manager, has received the Patriotic Employer award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), part of the Department of Defense.

The award was given in recognition of Watson’s and Brookings Health System’s continuing support of employees who serve in the National Guard and National Reserve. The purpose on the award states, “For contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.”

Watson was nominated by Specialist Ryan Sattler of 153rd HHC Engineer Battalion of the South Dakota National Guard, stationed in Huron. Sattler works as a radiologic technologist in Brookings Health System’s imaging department. He required leave to go along with his guard unit to assist during the 2011 Missouri River Flood in Dakota Dunes, S.D. Watson and Brookings Health System were recognized for giving Sattler the flexibility to serve and accepting the short notice regarding his activation.
