Brookings Health System Foundation will hold the ninth annual Aiming to Inspire Health sporting clays fundraiser, presented by First Bank & Trust, on Thursday, Aug. 9 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Medary Creek Hunt Club, rural Aurora, S.D.

Proceeds from the 2018 event will support educational and training resources in Brookings Health System’s new ambulance station and education center.

Brookings Health announced in June it intends to build a new ambulance station and education center to give the ambulance service a permanent home in close proximity to the hospital. The education center will hold training sessions for Brookings Health System employees and host community classes like First Aid and CPR.

“Part of our ambulance team’s responsibility is to provide continuing education to health care providers on critical life-saving skills, such as advanced cardiac life support,” said Ambulance Director Gordon Dekkenga. “Having a fully furnished education center will better enable us to educate health care providers and the community alike.”

Money raised by the sporting clays event will help purchase items like audio/video equipment, whiteboard, tables, chairs, storage and other educational supplies.

Families, businesses, youths and adults are encouraged to take part in the event. Participants will receive a meal served by Hy-Vee and ammunition provided by Runnings. Over $2000 in prizes will be awarded.

Deadline for registrations is 5 p.m. on Friday, July 27. Team registration costs $250; individual registration is $65.

In addition to First Bank & Trust, Hy-Vee and Runnings, event sponsors to date include 3M Brookings; Avangrid Renewables; Avera Medical Group Brookings; Banner Associates; Brookings Regional Builders Association; Century Business Products; Cubby’s Sports Bar & Grill; Dacotah Bank; Eide Bailly; Falcon Plastics Inc.; Helsper, McCarty & Rasmussen P.C.; Kraus-Anderson Construction; Kerry’s Landscaping; Larson Manufacturing; Midwest Glass; Mills Construction; Sanford Clinic Brookings; Scheels Sioux Falls; Thompson Electric;Twin City Fan and Valero Renewable Fuels.
