Brookings Health System Foundation will hold the seventh annual Aiming to Inspire Health sporting clays fundraiser, presented by First Bank & Trust, on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Medary Creek Hunt Club, rural Aurora, S.D.

Proceeds from the 2016 event will help purchase three new infant warmers for New Beginnings Birth Center, replacing aging equipment with top-of-the-line technology that is easier for staff to operate when performing neonatal resuscitation.

“When New Beginnings moves to the new hospital expansion, we’ll be expanding from three labor and delivery suites to five suites plus one triage room,” said OB Director Mary Schwaegerl. “Each room needs an infant warmer to be prepared to care for any baby born in critical condition. We’ve budgeted in the construction project to buy three new warmers for the additional labor and delivery suites, but we will also eventually need to replace the existing warmers we currently use as they reach end-of-life.”

Brookings Health System has scheduled to purchase one replacement infant warmer for the next three years. The proceeds from Aiming to Inspire Health will expedite this schedule, placing new infant warmers in all of the new labor and delivery suites.

“Brookings Health System already makes a significant investment in equipment upgrades every year as its budget allows,” said Foundation Director Barb Anderson. “We hope to raise enough money to help accelerate the infant warmer upgrades so when the new OB opens next year, all six warmers will be brand new just like the building.”

Participants of all ages helped raise funds for last year’s Aiming to Inspire Health sporting clays fundraiser. This year Brookings Health System Foundation will hold the event on Thursday, Aug. 11. Interested participants may register by contacting the Foundation at (605) 696-8855 or foundation@brookingshealth.org.
