Ten Brookview Manor residents took in the sunshine and fresh air at Oakwood Lakes State Park on Wednesday, Sept. 14, for Brookview Manor's annual fishing trip, a tradition that began in the 1980s.

Residents reached Oakwood at 10 a.m. and started fishing from the ADA accessible dock. Over the noon hour they enjoyed a picnic of grilled foods and salads.

While Marj Hendricks of Brookings caught the only fish of the day, a seven-inch bullhead, residents still made the best of the situation. Several sat in the shelter and visited, sharing fishing stories of years past and other enjoyable memories.

Gas 'N Mor, Brookings, donated all bait for the trip.
