Brookings Health System recently appointed two new directors, Sandra Ruesch, RN, and Sara Schneider.

Ruesch was promoted to serve as the new quality director. In this role Ruesch provides education and training to drive organizational improvement efforts and to support staff competence. She oversees clinical data submissions as required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and administers the physician peer review process as required by federal and state regulations for hospitals.

Ruesch also provides quality assessment and performance improvement activities as required by federal and state regulations for all Brookings Health System entities and collaborates with team members to develop and implement organizational improvement initiatives.

Ruesch brings ten years of health care experience to her position, most recently serving as an emergency department supervisor and clinical nurse educator at Brookings Health; she also served as a nurse educator at Sanford Health. She received her master of science degree in nursing education from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, and her bachelor’s in nursing from South Dakota State University. She also is a current member of the Eastern Plains Sexual Assault Response Team and on the state board of directors for the Emergency Nurses Association.

Schneider was recently hired as the new foundation director. In this role, Schneider manages and coordinates fundraising for Brookings Health System Foundation. She is responsible for managing grant funding, implementing fundraising strategies, and coordinating fund distribution to support Brookings Health System.

Schneider brings five years of fundraising experience to the foundation director position. She previously served as the coordinator of athletic development and special events in SDSU’s athletic department which included identifying prospective donors and leading the Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction. She received her degree in consumer affairs from SDSU. She also is active in Connect 2140, an affiliate organization of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce, and previously served as Connect 2140’s chairperson.
