Brookings Health System is hosting a free educational event discussing day to day challenges and troubleshooting of living with an ostomy on Monday, April 23 from 7 to 8 p.m. in Brookings Hospital Conference Room A. Lisa Malone, certified wound ostomy nurse, will lead the event.

“We are hoping to foster intimate discussions between the participants on what works for them and allow attendees to ‘think outside the box’ for troubleshooting,” said Malone.

Malone will also discuss “normal routines” along with recommended care guidelines and a review of the basic new products available.

Malone hopes to host an educational event every quarter, with the next one in June. The topic will be based on the feedback received from the April session.
