Brookings Health System has partnered with the South Dakota Board of Nursing to offer a clinical enrichment program. The program allows nursing students the opportunity to continue learning the practice of nursing outside of their formal education program.

Program Details

The clinical enrichment program is a paid, 10-week internship offered annually every summer. Candidate selection happens in the late fall. The selected candidates will be paired with a nurse preceptor in the students’ area of interest: obstetrics, inpatient care, surgery or emergency services. As an intern, the student will perform tasks of direct and indirect patient care under their preceptor’s guidance.

The learning experience will help nursing students develop confidence and competence in their clinical skills and smooth their transition to a licensed nurse after graduation.
