2022 New Year’s Baby Born at Brookings Health

Alaric Schmidt arrived at 4:28 a.m. on Jan. 2, 202S, making him the first baby of the New Year born at Brookings Health System.

Alaric is the son of Amanda Taylor and Daniel Schmidt of Flandreau, S.D. He weighed seven pounds and 11 ounces and measured 20.25 inches long. Alaric joins older siblings Connor and Dawn. Mother and baby are both doing well.

The New Year’s Baby and his parents received a variety of toys, baby products, and, gift certificates of cash and services from local businesses and organizations. Contributors to the New Year’s Baby gift basket include:
