Aiming to Inspire Health Fundraiser Pushes Capital Campaign Over $2.2 Million Mark

A record-setting 29 teams participated in Brookings Health System Foundation‘s sixth annual Aiming to Inspire Health sporting clays fundraiser on Thursday, Aug. 13 at Medary Creek Hunt Club, rural Aurora, S.D., presented by First Bank & Trust.

Proceeds from the 2015 event pushed the Progress Lives Here hospital expansion and renovation capital campaign to over $2.2 million of its $4.6 million goal.

“The sporting clays event is unique and it keeps growing every year,” said Foundation Development Officer Barb Anderson. “We thank our sponsors, participants and volunteers whose involvement supports the future of health care in our community.”

Winners from the event include:

  • Top Score Adult Team—140; Big Dogs: Rich Widman (Brookings, S.D.), Conor Rude (Brookings, S.D.), Terry Wieczorek (Brookings, S.D.) and Mark Widman (Tea, S.D.). Each received $100 gift card to Scheels Sioux Falls
  • Top Score Adult Individual—47; Rod Brandenburger (Brookings, S.D.). Received $100 gift card to Scheels Sioux Falls.
  • Second Place Adult Individual—43; Chris Karch (Brookings, S.D.). Received $50 gift card to Gas ‘N More.
  • Top Score Youth Individual—35; Hunter Newman (Brookings, S.D.). Received $50 gift card Walmart.
  • Second Place Youth Individual—33; Hunter Jensen (Brookings, S.D.). Received binoculars from Kjergaards Sports.
  • Drawing, Individual Participants—John Hockett (Brookings, S.D.) and Jim Juhnke (Brookings, S.D.). Each won a punch card from Outdoor Adventure Center good for their choice of 12 archery or handgun range sessions.
  • Drawing, Teams—Banner Associates Straight Shooters. Won a two hour facility and equipment rental from the Larson Nature Center.
  • Ghost Clay Drawing—Chris Wooge (Russell, Minn.). Received $100 prize package from Kjergaard Sports.
  • Lowest Individual Score—Clark Drew (Brookings, S.D.). Received $100 prize package from Kjergaard Sports.
  • Top Score Station Nine—Bill Paulsen (Bruce, S.D.). Received $100 prize package from Kjergaard Sports.
  • Early Bird Drawing—Bill Retterath (Brookings, S.D.). Received $100 prize package from Kjergaard Sports.
