Brookings Health System announced today it is expanding its volunteer opportunities available at Brookings Hospital. The announcement coincides with National Volunteer Week, April 23-29, which celebrates and recognizes people who engage and give back to their communities.
As the largest health care employer in Brookings, workforce development is a critical strategy for Brookings Health System. When the new HOSA chapter started at Brookings High School at the beginning of this school year, Brookings Health System’s leadership team knew they wanted to support the group in molding future health care professionals.
Thanks to a very generous, anonymous Brookings, S.D. philanthropist, for every dollar donated to the “Make This House a Home” campaign, an additional three dollars will be given until the goal of $600,000 is reached.

New quality data recently issued on Nursing Home Compare, www.medicare.gov/ nursinghomecompare, ranks The Neighborhoods at Brookview with a perfect five-star rating across all four measureable dimensions. The four dimensions include health inspections, quality measures, staffing and overall rating.
Brookings Health System’s free six-week educational series, Understanding Grief, will begin on Monday, March 6. The class series is led by Social Worker Denise Larson.
